Why should "The Golden Compass" have a Directors Cut.
When demanded by the studio to cut The Godfather no more than 2h15m long, Francis Ford Coppola dried down the movie, cutting away everything that was not strictly fundamental to the plot, and with some effort got to 2h20m.
